How technology is going to affect how your students are going to be learning

It is proven that life is made easy with technology. We 'breathe' technology. We 'live' technology. It is time for a 'CHANGE'. Gone are the days where chalks and blackboard ruled the lives of teachers and students. With today's technology we should always be on the go and it is indeed a challenge to keep up with the massive growth of technology.

Teachers should therefore perceive this massive growth of technology as a real boon to students. Take it as a bless for technology offers us new ways of learning. When we think of a 'CHANGE', we think of going 'UNCONVENTIONAL'- where instead of teachers have all the say to what their students are to learn, it is the students who now have the opportunity to decide, to determine what they want to learn. With the spawning educational websites, all that is needed is just one click away. That way students can learn on their own and with the teachers as the beneficiary of it as those educational websites can act as teaching aids for use in classroom.

  1. hye syazwan..

glad to know that u're so positive about this UNCONVENTIONAL thing called technology..=p..but i don't think that those children in school are ready to change their learning style..especially in those rural areas..plus many teachers are corrupted(ever heard this word before?)haha..they don't even know how this technology works!

  2. hey syazwan! thanx for dropping ur bomb at my blog!hehe. btw, i agree with ur line saying that 'educational webs can act as teaching aids' bcoz i dont think that technology (or any kind of it!) can replace the place of a teacher in a classroom.

  3. corrupted? haha..dat sounds VERY familiar..u like him? hehe.btw thx 4 ur comment..yup.i do agree wif u.x all rural schools hv d access..hmm

  4. Ms Darla..yup.a teacher in a classroom is the jack of all trades.no matter wut..teachers act as the anchor dat lead where their students r heading to by using the webs as aids

  5. agree with darla
i hope none of us will use techno to replace ourselves so that we can do absolute nothing in the class

    PEACE

  6. So totally agree with Miss Hanem, i really concern with the student from the rural area. where i come from, there are quite a number of schools which are not equip with computer for the student. And the teacher seems uninterested in using technology in their lesson; probably they think that they are too old to catch up with all the technology stuff.
These is surely not something trivial..alert!

  7. hye apexi! yup..u hv a point thr..x all schools hv access..even if d schools hv access d major prob is the teachers themselves wont let dis new stuff to get into their ways of teaching jst yet.their jst x ready i guess

  8. hehehehe..mr apexi.. i noe how hard to be a kampong boy...i pity u..maybe that is the reason why u realize the situation there...

  9. syazwan,,it is true that students can learn immediately with just a click away, however, we do need to consider those children who are in the rural areas as they might not have the access to the net or maybe they do not have the skill in IT as well. Some of them might have low proficiency, what else if the IT skills which are more complicated?

  10. well, depend on the ministry of education to think a way to provide technology in the rural area. as long as TM is under the same management, maybe there will be no internet connection for them. they even took more than 1 month to connect the telephone line into our home.

  11. i don't think we always have to depend on others in order to bring change..why don't u start the first move yourself? i don't mean 'yourself' as yourself but yourself as a community in school.when others can see the benefits, then i think they are not hesitant to follow and make your move as an example.

  12. You got great comments there from your friends. Well, as long as we keep in mind that the student learning is more important than anything else, we shall keep looking for the best way to use whatever technology we have available to us. What do you think? Anyway, keep the blog coming, I see you have posted only two so far.

  13. Hi Wanjoe,
I like the way you have designed and organised your blog. Your post on the 'effects of technology' beats the reality. Most of the point are based on the real world phenomenon. Hope you will do your best here. My wishes to you....
